Meredith Huey Dye, MA Sociology, ‘01

After graduating from the MA program at UNCG, I entered the PhD program at the University of Georgia. In 2008, I completed my degree in Sociology with a concentration in crime, law, and deviance. Both my MA thesis and doctoral dissertation research examined suicide in prisons. Since 2008, I have worked as professor of sociology at Middle Tennessee State University where I teach a variety of core courses for the major and criminology minor. My research continues to focus on the effects of incarceration, prison suicide, and women in prison. I recently published a book on women serving life sentences. Also during this timeframe, my husband, Dwight, and I had two kids, Piper and Jasper
