Kristen Hefner, MA ’09

After graduating with my MA, I held a year-long research fellowship with the ACLU of North Carolina (Immigrants’ Rights Fellowship). The fellowship was designed to quantitatively evaluate various sources of law enforcement data in order to examine whether racial profiling exists in specific North Carolina counties. In addition, I engaged in community education and outreach with the ACLU-NC’s Racial Justice Attorney and other staff members to promote immigrants’ rights and racial equality. I am currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. My primary areas of interest include gender, sociolegal studies, feminist theory, and criminal justice policy. I am working on my doctoral dissertation which is an institutional level case study of a large-scale child sexual abuse case that occurred in Delaware. I am engaged and will be married in Greensboro in June 2016.
