Professor Steve Kroll-Smith retires

Professor Steve Kroll-Smith has been a master teacher-scholar, leader, and role model for all of us in UNCG Sociology for twenty years. He’s published multiple books and articles and taught thousands of students in the areas of disasters, social psychology, sustainability, social problems, and methods. He is a well-known and highly respected scholar, a giant intellect, and great friend and mentor to many.
Dr. Kroll-Smith is retiring this semester. It won’t be the same without him, but we know he will continue to use his incisive mind, caring disposition, and searing academic writing to continue to do good in the world, and to inspire all of us to be better to one another and to work toward making our society better.
On behalf of the UNCG Sociology community, Steve, thank you so much for your outstanding presence in the department, University, and field, and here’s to your much-deserved chance to fly a little freer!
