Dr. Sefika Kumral Karatasli, who is joining UNCG Sociology this fall, has been awarded the 2019 Theda Skocpol Dissertation Award from the American Sociological Association’s Comparative and Historical section. Dr. Kumral Karatasli’s dissertation is titled “Democracy and Violence: Social Origins of Anti-Kurdish Riots in Turkey.”
