Dr. Arielle Kuperberg named Chair of the Council on Contemporary Families

Dr. Arielle Kuperberg, Associate Professor of Sociology and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at UNC Greensboro, began a three year term as Chair of the Council on Contemporary Families. The Council on Contemporary Families is a nonprofit nonpartisan organization aimed at promoting understanding about academic research on American families to the public and the press. Members include sociologists, demographers, economists, family therapists, historians, political scientists, psychologists, social workers, communication scholars, and other family social scientists and practitioners. Dr. Kuperberg has been a member of the board of the Council on Contemporary Families since 2017 and frequently discusses her research on families and romantic and sexual relationships in the popular press. Her research examines a wide range of family and relationship topics including cohabitation, marriage, divorce, college hookups and dating, childbearing, stay-at-home parents, and the impacts of student loans on families and young adulthood. She joined the faculty of UNC Greensboro in 2010 after completing a joint Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography from the University of Pennsylvania.
